THE Y FOR

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

We focus our work in three key areas, because nurturing the potential of kids, helping people live healthier, and supporting our neighbors are fundamental to strengthening communities.

Clinical supervision

Some agencies are unable to provide clinical supervision to MFT trainees and registered interns. The BBS allows a supervisor not connected with the primary placement to provide individual supervision with a signed agreement between the two agencies (BBS: CCR Section 1833). AAMFT-approved supervisor, Bobbie J. Paul, Ph.D., is available to provide individual supervision to MFT students and interns through YMCA Counseling Services. The fee is $80 per supervision hour.

Dr. Paul has 16 years experience as a clinical supervisor working with YMCA Youth & Family Services in San Diego. Students and registered interns, representing many universities, provide therapy in a fee-for-service counseling setting and in two school-based therapy programs, TIDES and Building Bridges. A unique feature of Dr. Paul's supervision approach is her commitment to the application of Bowen Family Systems theory to clinical work. Dr. Paul's observation is that therapists in training exposed to Bowen theory acquire a way of thinking that prepares them to practice independently in a principled and professional manner.

Supervision of Supervision

Dr. Bobbie J. Paul is an AAMFT-approved supervisor and is available to provide Supervision of Supervision to AAMFT candidates. The fee is $80 for a one-hour session.
