Our programs serve youth and families in San Diego County in community centers, treatment facilities or schools.

Prevention Education, Abstinence Focused

TALK10-Teens Abstinence Leadership Knowledge

  • 10 hour curriculum
  • Education focused on life skill development, puberty and sexuality. 
  • Students are given resources and information regarding local clinics in their area.

Parenting Classes- Education and Support of Caregivers of Adolescents

  • 20 hour curriculum
  • Geared toward the improvement of parenting skills, this program includes discussion of parenting styles, discipline, family expectations and family relationships, effective communication, child development, protective parenting, stress management and behavior management. 
  • Covers the importance of on-going conversations about sex, self-esteem, peer pressure and the media. 
  • Includes lectures, group discussion, handouts, role plays and worksheets. 
  • Classes are offered in English and Spanish, during the day and evening. 

Positive Choices -- Education and Support of Teen Mothers and Fathers

  • 12 hour curriculum
  • Teen parents will experience a combination of youth specific parenting skills and youth violence prevention lessons, including a presentation on Teen Relationship Violence.

  Teen Link Community Project is a collaborative with a focus on prevention (of teen pregnancy, substance abuse, and gang involvement) encouraging youth to reduce high risk behaviors through education in order to make positive life choices.  
     
 

Community Service

Project LEAD (Leadership Education and Advocacy Development)

  • 30 hour curriculum
  • Focuses on teaching life skills, leadership, and community service via a service learning and youth development model. 
  • Classes taught include:
    • communication
    • problem solving and conflict resolution techniques
    • elements of decision making and understanding individual choices to help young people make healthy and responsible decisions
  • Youth can then utilize these skills to create a service project to benefit their community. 

Community Youth Development (CYD) Program

  • 40 hour curriculum
  • Youth from diverse backgrounds participate in a 10-hour leadership-training program and 30-hour health training to serve as peer educators. 
  • The peer educators provide tutoring, mentoring, and monthly social support to youth and complete monthly community enhancement projects. 
  • On-going community activities provide a means for youth to take on leadership roles and become self-empowered to improve themselves, as well as their community.
