Volunteer Opportunities

If you are interested in volunteering at the YMCA, there are many opportunities available covering a large range of skills.

Y-FRIENDz

  • As a Y-FRIENDz mentor, you will be matched with a child 4-15, who has a parent incarcerated. These are wonderful children who need a little extra attention and support. You will meet once per week with your mentee and do fun activities including sports, arts & crafts, playing outside, tutoring, and just hanging out.  Your relationship and positive influence will make all the difference for a child on the brink of success!  Our program is countywide and hours are flexible.

Counseling Internship

  • YMCA Youth & Family Services offers two different programs –TIDES and Counseling Services with the opportunity to be exposed to a culturally diverse population and variety of symptoms.
  • Working hours are flexible Monday - Saturday, 20hrs/wk for 9 months.
  • For more information, contact Dori Gilbert at (619) 543-9850 ext. 141
