YMCA Youth & Family Services is organized into four major project areas:
- Residential Services—Includes the two Oz shelters for runaway and troubled teens, and the two transitional living programs for homeless youth: Turning Point, Mary’s House (young women only), and Tommie's Place (for pregnant and parenting youth 18-21).
- School-Based Services—In addition to providing safe after-school programming at 28 elementary and middle schools countywide, provides school-based counseling, and – the largest provider in the county.
- Community-Based Services — Offers prevention and education-based programs, including the Balboa Youth & Community Center, prevention initiatives focused on violence, gang, drugs and teen pregnancy, as well as clinical counseling, mentoring and healthy lifestyle education. Also operates an independent living skills program for former foster youth, helping them transition into independence.
- Counseling — We offer bilingual counseling services for individuals and families.
