Frequently Asked Questions
What is the connection between AIS and YMCA Kinship (KSSP)?
Our program receives funding from Aging and Independence Services (AIS) to fund out of home respite services in the form of child care, am/pm care, day camp, or overnight camp.
How much Respite can I receive?
Relative caregivers who meet the requirements are eligible to receive up to 120 hours of respite for each kinship child in their care. Please note that these hours are based on availability of funding and therefore, they are not guaranteed. Exceptions may be made for relative caregivers that have disabilities or special circumstances.
Can you fund in home Respite or babysitting services?
No, Respite does not cover any in-home respite or babysitting. We coordinate the respite but we do not provide it. Caregivers should identify YMCA branches or outside providers for respite activities. Please note that childcare providers must be licensed.
